Surety deserves software that reads the file the way surety does.
Most tools a surety broker uses were built for something else: a CRM with a bond field, an accounting package, a spreadsheet one person understands. We started from the surety file itself and built outward.
The best analysis in the shop shouldn't leave when one person does.
Every surety producer knows the Thursday afternoon folder. The statements get spread by hand, the WIP gets rebuilt in someone's own spreadsheet, and the adjustments that decide the answer are made from memory, differently by every person in the office.
Then the file goes to market, the underwriter restates it, and the answer comes back from the other side of the table. Sometimes that's a smaller program. Sometimes it's three weeks of back-and-forth on something that could have gone in complete.
We wanted the broker to see the file the way the surety will, before it's sent: every adjustment made the same way every time, with the reason written beside it, and the time given back for the part of the job that is actually judgement: the client, the market, the argument.
With producers, on real files. In English and in French.
Real files, not samples
Every reader in the product was tuned on real contractor packs: Quebec year-ends, work-in-progress schedules in the accountant's own columns, 140-page agings, bank letters. When a file breaks something, the fix is tested against that file for good.
Producers in the room
The rules the engine applies come from practising surety producers, not from a textbook. When they say a figure is wrong, it's wrong until the arithmetic proves otherwise.
Both languages, natively
Statements, receivables and holdbacks written in French are read as written, not translated by hand first. A Quebec numbered company is one company, whatever it's called that week.
Four rules we build to.
- Never a confident wrong number. If a figure isn't in the documents, it comes back empty and the read says what's missing. A gap is honest; a guess isn't.
- Show the working. If it can't say where a number came from and why it changed, it doesn't show the number.
- The broker decides. It assembles, computes and drafts. It doesn't underwrite, bind or advise, and every override is yours and on the record.
- The first clean answer wins. The producer who responds first, with a file the underwriter doesn't have to restate, usually wins the account.
Built for brokers first.
The same contractor is read from more than one seat. We started with the one closest to the client.
Surety brokers
Contract and commercial surety, from submission to renewal: the restated file, the capacity, the bonds, the read and the emails.
SDI programs
Prequalifying a subcontractor roster is the same analysis at volume. The engine already scores a file the way a GC's prequal team would; tell us about your program.
MGAs and carriers
Delegated authority deserves an audited platform. We'll open this after our SOC 2 report, deliberately. If you write surety on someone else's paper, we'd still like to hear from you.
We'd rather show you than tell you.
Twenty minutes, one of your own accounts, and an honest conversation about what it does well and where it doesn't yet.
